Good rainy afternoon to all in Miami!
Today is a special treat: Biometric Passport Photos.
What the heck is Biometric Photography??! To begin, a passport photograph is taken for every single citizen of any country that wishes to travel. Visa photographs and gun permits also use this kind of photograph. It is simply an identification (ID) picture used by state and federal governments to process legal paperwork. These pictures are simple, yet cannot be tampered with in any way and must follow the guidelines according to the document type and country it will be used for. Every country has different guidelines (background colors, facial expressions, size of picture, size of face inside the picture, etc.) and must be met or the picture will be rejected and the passport process will take longer than it has to. For example, a Canadian passport has a different size than a Brazilian. When it comes to taking these pictures, avoid going to a CVS or Walgreens for a passport picture because you’ll leave with a mugshot instead. These a Pharmacies, not photo studios. I also recommend that you don’t try taking these pictures at home and editing them yourself!
According the United States Department of State: “Biometrics include face recognition, fingerprints, and iris scans.”
Biometric is only a fancy word to say that it must meet strict size and data requirements and it must also be presented in the form of a digital image for government databases. Here at Delio Photo Studio we do this kind of work all of the time and guarantee the results! The picture will be in your passport for 10 years (At least in the USA), so look professional and good!
If you need your passport, Visa, Concealed Weapon Permit or any other government issued ID picture come on over and let us do the work!

Its time for our next post ladies and gentlemen!
Intro to Engagement Sessions
Engagement sessions are the funnest part of the wedding photography experience (at least from our point of view). There are many variables when it comes to having a great photo shoot happen but we’ll get to those later. Many couples wish for the vintage style photo shoot, and that’s a problem because that’s the only information we get. “I have the idea of a vintage photo shoot.” Here come the questions a photographer should ask: What era? (50’s, 60’s, 70’s, Victorian), what aspect of that era? (The high class, the lawless, a movie reenactment), what will you wear?, are you willing to pay extra to shoot in a special set?
There are many more questions to be asked and with those questions come answers. An engagement session can also be a traditional one such as the beach, Wynwood, studio or even your own home (this is a good one since your home will also play into your persona). Remember that it is nearly impossible for a photographer to own props of all kinds since we’d need 10 blocks worth of warehouses. It is sort of boring when the same props are used for the same customers (everyone is different!).
An engagement session is like a movie production; the time of day is very important due to the position of the sun, the setting must be just right, and the wardrobe must play right into the whole idea. Also, be ready to bring out your alter ego, it is the moment where you see if you have any true Hollywood potential! Imagine what your friends and family will say when they see you in a commercial style photograph. A tip: you and your partner have to be completely open and ready to act, no shyness allowed!
There are hundreds of places one can use for engagement photography in Miami. From Vizcaya to the train museum to Brickell to the Miami River to the Zoo to the beach to wynwood to the spanish monastery to many more you have plenty of places to choose from. Apart from the different places you can go there are many props you can use such as a sailboat, a vintage Jeep Wrangler or a Military style Hummer used in the TV show “Burn Notice” (By the way, we have access to all of those). No matter where you live there are plenty of places to shoot (Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell, Wynwood, Downtown, Midtown, Ft Lauderdale, etc) so don’t freak out if your idea doesn’t fit anywhere you can think of! And most importantly, these settings are not the center of attention! You are! So let the photographer decide whether the setting is a good enough fit.
I know I’m all over the place, but this post isn’t supposed to be specific about one area. It’s all the aspects one should take into account when you think of engagement photography. Another idea: do you have any hobbies? (Tennis, Reading, Partying, Boating, Fishing, Painting, Bicycle riding, etc). These hobbies can be something you see as an everyday thing, but it’s YOUR everyday thing! Not everybody rides bike so these pictures tell a story about a couple that is unique in many ways (Obviously there are plenty of couples that ride bike, but how many have awesome sport pictures together?)
To conclude this post, understand that this is a production and that if you REALLY want something different, you have to spend a little more time and money to make it happen. Hopefully you get what you want and be glad that you have found the photographers for you!

Hello everyone,
So after the introduction to who we are I am going with another introduction that will go into one of the most important subjects of this blog: Wedding Photography. You’re asking yourself (well, maybe you’re asking yourself. I don’t know): “Why does wedding photography need an intro? Just give me some useful information!” Well, the answer is simple: Wedding photography is more complicated than you may think and this will not be the only kind of photography I write about.
By understanding what Wedding Photography brings to the table, decisions will come much easier and peace of mind will set in. Remember that photography is supposed to be fun! It isn’t supposed to feel like there’s some guy or lady you don’t know in your face with a camera and flash. Photographers (and I mean professional photographers) have a business to run and want all their customers happy enough to come back for more and recommend them.
So, to begin the introduction (formally), I’d like to say that every aspect of wedding photography will be covered: From how to plan an engagement session to wardrobes and ideas. And don’t forget one of the most important factors: Prices! If you’re a regular person like I am, you’ll have to settle for YOUR dream Wedding. Don’t expect to be able to pull off a Royal Wedding especially since some of the costs fall back on the taxpayers (Don’t we wish we could do that). As long as you have a reasonable budget and you distribute it correctly you should have a blast that all of your friends and family will remember. I will speak of the process of buying wedding photography all the way to the moment you receive your final product (whether it is a CD or a beautifully designed Coffee Table Book). I will also urge you to do certain things, such as where NOT to cut your budget and things you CAN’T afford to miss out on. It should be fun whenever we get into the wardrobe and idea section of the engagement sessions since all of you will have a say in it. Can’t wait to hear new ideas and help you all create something different and unique! To say that everyone asks to do the same engagement session idea is an understatement. This is more of how it goes like: “I want something completely different for our engagement session, so I’d like to go to the beach dressed in white.” Mind you, this is Miami and EVERYONE does that. I am not saying I dislike the idea, or that we don’t enjoy a photo shoot at the beach. I’m just saying that you’re paying an artist to do the same thing he/she does for everyone. Isn’t that defeating the purpose of hiring a creative professional?
So as you can see, there are a large amount of aspects that will be covered when it comes to Wedding Photography. Come to me my future Bridezillas (Just kidding. But really, you guys get pretty aggressive on your Wedding day) and ask questions, bring ideas to the table, gather a better understanding about Wedding Photography and hopefully hire my company to do your wedding photos. If you’re in Miami, come on by and have a coffee!

Good afternoon to all in South Florida (although people from all parts of the world are welcome)!
This is the beginning of Delio Photo Studio’s Blog and I want to give a small introduction and sneak peak as to what this blog will relate to. Delio Photo Studio was founded in 2002 by Delio Regueral, an artist and professional photographer with more than 25 years of experience. Delio was born in Cuba and moved to Spain at the age of 19 where he suffered and almost fatal motorcycle injury. It was because of this accident that he became a student of photography; he graduated #1 in his class from the photography school EFTI in Madrid, Spain. He owned several other photography businesses before he decided to make memories for all of his clientele which includes Wedding, Quince, Family, Corporate, Artistic and Architectural photography.
To introduce myself:
My name is Delio (Jr to be exact) and was born in Spain in the year 1987. With a Spanish mother and a Cuban father, we moved to Miami 20 years ago. To make a long story short, I graduated from High School, Graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, married my beautiful wife, worked in catering, high end watch sales and the photography industry. Photography has been around me during my whole life and my earliest memories involve a camera and a subject. I’ve been working as a photographer’s assistant since the age of 12, and as a photographer ever since I did my first wedding at the age of 17 (you wouldn’t believe the stress, but the training was more than elementary). I am now the right hand of my father as we begin to show the world what we can do!
This blog will answer questions to every person in any aspect of photography. Whether it is about pricing, morality, styles, experiences or hobby we will make this blog a memorable one! Several blog posts will be aimed to different kinds of photography including Quinces, Weddings, Family Portraits, Corporate Photography, etc.
I ask you all to follow us on our social media pages for a more complete experience and if you are close to us, come on by and have a coffee!
